The Power of Your Story
Everyone has a story. Some are filled with moments of struggle and transformation, while others include unexpected encounters with God that change everything. This week’s Assembly centered on the importance of sharing our stories—not just for our own reflection, but as a testimony that could impact someone else’s life.
The reminder was clear: You never know who needs to hear what God has done in your life.
John’s Story: A Journey from Searching to Finding Truth
John Newlun shared how his story was not one of a traditional church upbringing. Raised in a home where faith wasn’t a part of daily life, he found himself searching.
That search took him through different denominations, different perspectives, and even unexpected moments—like playing basketball with the Jackson 5 while living in Jamaica. Yet, in the midst of a lifestyle that could have led him away from God, he experienced something life-changing.
In the middle of a cane field in Jamaica, surrounded by people worshiping in a thatched hut, he encountered the presence of God for the first time.
He didn’t fully understand it then, but something stirred inside him. It was the beginning of a journey that would lead him to seek truth, explore scripture, and ultimately surrender to Christ.
His story was a reminder that God meets us where we are—even in the most unexpected places.
Rony’s Story: Moving from Lukewarm to Fully Devoted
Rony Terma’s journey was different but carried the same theme—searching for something real.
Growing up in a tough neighborhood in Orlando, his life changed when he gave his life to Christ in November 2023. But even after that decision, the challenge remained: Would he live fully for Christ, or would he hold on to old habits?
He recalled a moment at work when his manager, a pastor’s son, said:
“I love God, but I want to live my own life.”
The words stood out like a flashing sign—not just for his manager, but for himself.
It reminded him of Revelation 3:16, where Jesus warns against being lukewarm:
“But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
Rony reflected on his own past—posting Bible verses online while still living in ways that didn’t align with his faith. He realized that God doesn’t just want belief—He wants full devotion.
Spiritual Growth Takes Intentionality
- In August, he took his first 7-day fast, stepping away from distractions to focus on God.
- In January, he took a 21-day fast from social media, and for the first time, he heard God speak to him.
- These moments reminded him that growing in faith requires sacrifice—but the peace and joy found in Christ are worth it.
His message was clear: You can’t live halfway for God. You’re either fully in or you’re not.
Listen to Rony tell his story now:
Why Your Story Matters
Both John and Rony’s experiences point to an important truth: God is always working—even when we don’t recognize it at first.
Maybe you’ve never thought of your own story as something worth sharing. But this week’s Assembly served as a reminder:
Your testimony could be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
You never know when someone in a tough season, a moment of doubt, or a place of searching needs the encouragement that comes from hearing what God has done in your life.
So be ready.
Be ready to share where you’ve been, what God has brought you through, and what He’s still doing in your life. Your story matters.
