From the quiet campus of Ecclesia College, a tale of resilience, faith, and a commitment to service unfolds through the life of Isaac Carlson. A 2020 graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree and a minor in Biblical Studies, Isaac was once a beacon on the Ecclesia Royals baseball team. His journey, however, took an unexpected turn in his senior year when a sports injury put an end to his beloved baseball career.
A New Path Unfolds
Undeterred, Isaac’s unwavering spirit led him to a new path—Chiropractic school. Alongside him every step of the way was his now wife, Jessie, who had stood by him through the highs and lows of his Ecclesia journey. They walked hand in hand into a new chapter of life, and in January 2021, they exchanged vows, sealing a commitment not only to each other but to a shared dream of serving others.
Now, Jessie and Isaac are embarking on a transformative mission in the heart of the Dominican Republic, guided by a calling to bring healing to those in need. Though not an Ecclesia alumna, Jessie’s journey is seamlessly woven into the fabric of Isaac’s story, where her support and dedication have been a driving force behind their shared mission.
A Shared Mission in the Dominican Republic
Jessie, armed with her skills as an Ultrasound Technician, is set to become the sole practitioner at the GO Medical clinic in Santiago. Her mission is clear—to provide accessible healthcare to the underserved, to care for expectant mothers and their unborn children, and to be a beacon of hope in identifying and treating diseases that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Beside her, Dr. Isaac Carlson, now a Chiropractor, steps into the role of Director of Sports Medicine with GO Sports. His mission is to serve hundreds of athletes, not only in injury prevention and treatment but as a mentor and guide in breaking the cycle of poverty through the transformative power of sports. His work at The Leadership Development Complex (LDC) is more than just a job; it’s a calling to inspire and empower young minds.
Their mission is intertwined with the legacy of GO Ministries, which has been on the island for 34 years, focusing on empowering local leaders and making disciples through Medical, Sports, and Church Planting ministries.
In the Dominican Republic, where education gaps persist, Jessie and Isaac step into roles that transcend borders. Through their work, they aim not just to provide physical support and services but to build trust, strengthen relationships, and lay the foundation for a chain of discipleship that will endure for generations.
Joining the Mission
As they embark on this journey, Isaac and Jessie extend an invitation to join them in this noble cause. Their plea echoes not just a need for financial support but a call to collective prayer and shared humanity. They recognize that, in unity, we can make a profound impact—breaking the chains of poverty, providing healthcare to the underserved, and fostering hope in the hearts of those who need it most.
So, let’s join hands with Isaac and Jessie Carlson as they bring healing hands to the Dominican sun, casting rays of hope on a community in need. Together, we can be a part of a story that transcends borders, echoing the values of faith, service, and compassion that Ecclesia College instilled in Isaac and now embraces Jessie as an integral part of their journey.
