What does institutional accreditation mean?
Accreditation is an external quality-assurance process. An institutional accreditor evaluates the institution as a whole against established standards and requires continuing accountability.
External Review
Accreditation includes evaluation by an independent accrediting organization rather than the College relying only on its own assessment of institutional quality.
Institutional Standards
The accreditation process evaluates areas such as mission, educational effectiveness, governance, resources, integrity, planning, and institutional operations.
Continuing Accountability
Accreditation is not a one-time designation. Accredited institutions participate in continuing reporting, review, assessment, and reaffirmation processes.

SARA & State Authorization Information →What accreditation does not guarantee.
Accreditation is important, but students should not use the word “accredited” to assume answers to questions about transfer credit or professional licensure.
Transfer credit is determined by the receiving institution.
Institutional accreditation does not guarantee that every Ecclesia course or degree will be accepted by another college or university. Each receiving institution establishes its own transfer policies and makes its own transfer-credit decisions.
Professional licensure requirements are separate.
Students considering a profession that requires state licensure should review the requirements of the appropriate licensing authority in the state where they intend to practice. Institutional accreditation does not by itself establish eligibility for a particular professional license.
SARA participation is not accreditation.
SARA addresses interstate distance-education authorization and related requirements. It does not accredit Ecclesia College or individual academic programs. Review SARA information →
Accreditation should be easy to verify.
Students and families do not have to rely only on Ecclesia’s website. Accreditation and accreditor recognition can also be reviewed through independent official sources.
