How to File (5 Quick Steps)
Create Your FSA ID
Students (and contributors such as a parent or spouse) create an FSA ID at studentaid.gov. Keep usernames/passwords handy.
Start the FAFSA
Choose the academic year you’ll attend. Answer the prompts and invite your contributor(s) if required.
Add Ecclesia (Code 038553)
Enter 038553 so we receive your FAFSA data and can build your award.
Submit & Sign
Everyone listed (you and any contributors) must sign electronically. You’ll get a FAFSA Submission Summary.
Watch Your Portal
Your Ecclesia portal will list any documents we need (e.g., verification items). Upload promptly to avoid delays.
What to Have Ready
- FSA ID(s) for you and contributor(s)
- Social Security Number (or Alien Reg. Number if eligible)
- Federal tax info (FAFSA uses prior-prior year data)
- Household size & number in college
- Current balances for cash/savings (if asked)

- Undergraduate U.S. citizens/eligible non-citizens seeking federal/state aid
- Arkansas residents should also apply for state programs (e.g., Academic Challenge)
Special Situations
- Independent students (married, military, etc.) may not need parent info.
- Unusual circumstances (homeless, foster, unable to contact parent): file and contact us.
- International students generally aren’t FAFSA-eligible; we’ll help explore other options.

Don’t panic—this is a routine federal review. Your Ecclesia portal will list exactly what to submit. If you need help, contact us.
- Complete any verification items shown in your portal.
- Ensure all contributors gave consent in the FAFSA. If data couldn’t be retrieved electronically, we may request tax documents.
- Upload clear, legible files as PDFs or images.

Which FAFSA year should I file?
File the FAFSA for the academic year you plan to attend. You must renew the FAFSA each year.
Do I need test scores to get aid?
No. Test scores are not required for federal aid eligibility. Some scholarships or course placement may use scores.
How long until I see my award?
It depends on when your FAFSA and documents are complete. We start packaging after we receive your FAFSA with code 038553 and any required follow-up items.
Where do I upload documents?
